fbph-nursingstudentsWe are 4th year nursing students from the University of Saskatchewan who began a community health rotation at The Lung Association in September.  From the first day we were welcomed with open arms and their inter-professional staff provided us with multiple learning opportunities.

Our main project was the Focus. Breathe. Play Hard. Lung Health Challenge  which was done in partnership with The Saskatoon Blades and The Regina Pats.  We were busy and worked like Santa’s Little Elves for the past three months to complete our assignments. Our days at The Lung Association were filled with emails, drafting, editing, finalizing, organizing, eating treats supplied by the staff, and so much more!

Together we developed a lung health presentation that The Regina Pats and The Saskatoon Blades players provided to over 4000 students in the province. The presentations focused on the respiratory system, why our lungs are important and ways youth can keep their lungs healthy.  We hope after hearing from the hockey role models, youth in our province will focus on their lung health in order to play hard in all their activities and sports!

The Lung Association staff were very accommodating and helpful throughout our experience! We are forever grateful and thank them from the bottom of our lungs!

We hope you join us for a special night of hockey and lung health. Tickets are just $15.00 and proceeds from ticket sales will support The Lung Association. Please come by The Lung Association office 1231 8th Street East, Saskatoon or call us for tickets at 1-888-566-LUNG.
